The Great Conversation

“As they walked to the front door the conversation still continued behind them. Some one has said that Aristasia is one long conversation that never stops; only pauses from time to time for sleep and business and other dull necessities.”
CHILDREN OF THE VOID

Aristasia has been described as “one long conversation” . The conversation has been going on for decades now. It takes place in “real life” and in Elektraspace. In Elektraspace it has continued in various different places, starting with the original Aphrodite Cocktail Bar. Today it takes place mostly at the Blondes' and Brunettes' Club.

As Club regulars will know, we discuss anything and everything. Some chats are perfectly silly. Others deal with serious topics of all kinds, and as regulars will also know, Aristasians often have a point of view entirely different from anything found in Telluria.

Here, for your entertainment and edificaton, we are pleased to present some of the recent sub-conversations of the Great Conversation. We hope this will become an important reference for Aristasian ideas and attitudes on just about everything.

“What of the conversations? Are there too many? Does the reader want to hear the Great Conversation of Aristasian life?”

“It is entirely necessary,” said Emma Kadrina “You are describing our life, and so much of what happens in our life — the very stuff of it — takes place on the plane of discourse. Leave that out and we should be a two-dimensional parody of what we are. We lead such an adventurous life and most of our adventures are intellectual adventures.”

“J’agroo,” said Wendy. “And also, how could any one know why we are what we are unless they knew what and how we think? Our life is inexplicable until you understand the thoughts that lie behind it.”

“Gay Marriage”

A discussion in March 2005 on the subject of “Gay Marriage” — what it means to Aristasians, what Aristasians think about it, together with thoughts on feminine bonding and sexual assumptions. As usual their views are thoughtful, original and not at all what those brought up on the bongo mass-media would expect!

Urban Platitudes No. 326b: the Warped Sense of Humour

Claiming to have a "warped sense of humour" is one of the great clichés of the Pit. Aristasians discuss what underlies this phenomenon. This leads on — in the familiar Aristasian way — to a discussion of censorship in children's books.

The Hourglass Effect

As modern society degenerates, does it pass a point after which a reaction sets in? Has it already done so?

Aristasian Jokes

Well, we can't always be serious!

Relativity, the Speed of Light and Such

A discussion on the Theory of Relativity, touching upon related questions, such as that of the qualification of science to describe the universe.
